Applied Physical Therapy & Wellness, LLC (APTW) was created in 2006, to offer services that are specifically tailored to the client's needs, and designed to restore function in as little time as possible.
Our Physical Therapy Services utilize a holistic approach in which we treat the whole person, rather than just a body part when addressing medical issues.
We focus on what truly matters during patient rehabilitation so that patients experience positive outcomes (measurable results) as quickly as possible.
Along with Physical Therapy, we also offer two Wellness Services including: Pilates and Strength/Conditioning to help clients elevate their level of health.
Our mission is to decrease pain, regain movement, and return family to life commitments. We provide orthopedic manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and functional activities individually designed to meet your needs.
Deborah Heilman (Deb) is the owner and creator of APTW. She experienced firsthand the pain and frustration that a serious injury can cause. As an aspiring dancer in a prestigious program, she suffered a devastating, career-ending knee injury that required long, hard months of physical therapy. This experience allowed her to understand the injured client's perspective.
Deb received her Master's of Science degree in 1999. In 2007, she became a Stott Certified Pilates Instructor. Committed to learning, in 2015, she went on to obtain her Doctor's of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Andrew's University, and become a Certified Manual Physical Therapist (CMPT) from the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT). Her education and life experiences makes her uniquely qualified to offer physical therapy and wellness services.
Mobilization and Manipulation is used to help the patient to regain motion by moving a joint in specific directions and speeds.
Muscle Energy is used to restore joint motion by gentle muscle contraction to relax and lengthen muscles.
Therapeutic Exercise for range of motion and strengthening exercises specifically designed to address deficits in function including: sitting, standing, walking, ascend/descending stairs, household chores, exercise, job tasks, and activities needed to care for your family.
Deep Core Muscle Education to promote low back stability and avoid re-occurrence of low back pain; accomplished by education in local deep muscles (deepest muscles of the stomach, muscles of the pelvic floor and lowback) to provide a natural corset of core stability in order to tolerate larger (more global) movements or activities.
Functional Dry Needling (FDN) is an acupuncture needle is inserted into trigger points (tender spots/knots in the muscle) to relieve pain, restore motion, and/or regain muscle firing for improved function.
Pilates is an exercise system that uses special equipment or floor work to improve stability, flexibility, strength, and encourages mental focus.
Strength/Conditioning exercises designed for conditioning clients to higher levels of fitness, increased strength, and improved health.
Craniosacral Therapy is used to enhance the functioning of the membranes, tissues, fluids, and bones surrounding or associated with the brain and spinal cord. Techniques are applied to reduce compression in bones of the neck and back (sacrum) to promote better circulation throughout the central nervous system.
